Refrigeration systems: design, installation and service

A refrigeration system is a set of condensing units, evaporators, pipework and controls that keeps the set temperature in cold rooms, refrigerated counters and production areas. ColdBack designs, installs and services CO₂ (R744) and low-GWP HFC refrigerant systems for retail, industry and food service across Poland. We commission every system with a leak test, a report and an entry in the CRO.

Scope

A system from design to commissioning

One company is responsible for design, installation, commissioning and service. So there is no passing the blame when something does not work.

  • CO₂ (R744) systems

A natural refrigerant with a GWP of 1 for shops and plants, with the option of heat recovery.

  • HFC refrigerant systems

Systems using low-GWP refrigerants, compliant with F-gas Regulation (EU) 2024/573.

  • Pipework and insulation

Pipe runs below ceilings and through roofs and walls, insulated and labelled.

  • Evaporators, cabinets and counters

Connecting evaporators in cold rooms, refrigerated cabinets and display cases to one system.

  • Controls and safety devices

Controllers, electronic valves, leak detectors and temperature alarms.

  • Commissioning and documents

Leak test, evacuation, charging, adjustment, report and CRO entry.

Frequently asked questions

24/7 on-call service

Night, weekend and public holiday on-call service is available to companies with a service contract, and in Warsaw also a guaranteed response within 4 hours. Without a contract we take calls Mon-Fri 8:00-18:00.

Want to be sure a Saturday breakdown will not spoil your stock? Call 516 338 012 and we will match the inspection scope and response time to your cold room.

What does a refrigeration system consist of?

A basic system has a condensing unit (compressor and condenser), evaporators in cold rooms or refrigerated cabinets, pipework connecting the equipment, expansion valves, and controls with controllers and safety devices. Larger systems have several compressors working together, refrigerant receivers and a heat recovery system.

CO₂ or HFC: which system should I choose?

CO₂ (R744) has a GWP of 1 and is not subject to F-gas Regulation restrictions, so it works well in new and larger systems, especially in shops and plants where heat can be recovered. Low-GWP HFC refrigerant systems are simpler and cheaper for small installations. The choice depends on capacity, budget and plans for the coming years.

Do you install systems outside Warsaw?

Yes. We design and install refrigeration systems and condensing units across Poland. We build PIR sandwich panel cold rooms in Masovia (Mazowieckie Province).

Can you work in a shop or plant that stays open?

Yes. On sites that stay open we split the work into stages, connect the cooling points one by one and schedule the noisiest work outside working hours, so sales or production can continue.

What documents will I receive after installation?

A leak test and commissioning report, equipment documentation, a system diagram and an entry in the CRO (Polish Central Register of Operators), which we create after every installation. The company holds an F-gas certificate for businesses.
