Condensing units: selection, supply and installation
A condensing unit combines a compressor, a condenser and controls. It removes heat from a cold room or freezer room and rejects it outside. ColdBack sizes each unit from the room's heat load calculation, then supplies and installs condensing units for cold rooms, freezer rooms and blast chilling rooms across Poland. After installation we carry out a leak test, commissioning and CRO registration.

A condensing unit sized for your room, not picked from a catalogue
An undersized unit cannot hold the temperature in summer. An oversized one runs in short cycles and wears out faster. That is why we start with calculations, not with a price list.
Capacity from a heat load calculation
We calculate losses through the walls, product heat, door openings and ambient temperature. The result in kW includes a margin for heatwaves.
Condensing units
Units for cold rooms from +2 to +8 °C and freezer rooms down to -25 °C, mounted on a wall, on the ground or on the roof.

We supply and install condensing units and refrigeration systems across Poland from our base in Majdan near Warsaw. The PIR sandwich panel rooms that we fit units to are built in Masovia (Mazowieckie Province).

24/7 on-call service
Night, weekend and public holiday on-call service is available to companies with a service contract, and in Warsaw also a guaranteed response within 4 hours. Without a contract we take calls Mon-Fri 8:00-18:00.

How do I size a condensing unit for a cold room?
We calculate the capacity from the room's heat load: heat passing through the walls, ceiling and floor, heat from incoming product, air let in when the door opens, plus lighting and fans. We divide the result in kW by the unit's daily running time, add a margin and choose the next size up in the manufacturer's range. Room volume alone is not enough, because the same cold room with a different product can need twice the capacity.
Which condensing unit suits a small cold room?
For a small cold room, for example 10-20 m³ built from PIR sandwich panels, a condensing unit of about 1-2 kW is usually enough. The exact capacity depends on the temperature, how much product goes in each day and how often the door is opened. We size the unit so that it runs with spare capacity in summer, not non-stop.
Which refrigerant should I choose for a new condensing unit?
F-gas Regulation (EU) 2024/573 gradually restricts high-GWP refrigerants, so in new units we use low-GWP or natural refrigerants: propane (R290) in small units and CO₂ (R744) in larger systems. This way the unit will not become a problem when the rules change again.
Where do you place the unit: outside or inside the building?
Usually outside: on the wall, on a base next to the building or on the roof, because the condenser has to reject heat. Inside a building, the unit can stand in a well-ventilated plant room. We choose a location with service access, where the noise will not disturb the neighbours.
How much does a condensing unit with installation cost?
The price depends on capacity, operating temperature, refrigerant type, brand and the length of pipework to the room. We price every unit individually after sizing it. Send us the room dimensions, temperature and type of product, and we will prepare a quote within 48 hours.
Which condensing unit brands do you work with?
We work with equipment from Bitzer, Danfoss, Copeland, Dorin, Frascold and Tecumseh, among others. We most often install Tecumseh units, and in cold rooms also Area condensing units. We buy equipment directly from distributors, and our team trains regularly with the manufacturers. We install condensing units across Poland.
